Although I rarely use FrameMaker these days, I have read this discussion with interest.
No-one is going to thank me for saying this, but doing heavy lifting with structured documents in PowerPC Frame v 7 on a 2003 Mac, I never noticed any performance issues. Odd. Of course the app is much more capable now.
