I did exactly the same and had exactly the same trouble:

(II) LoadModule: "ivtvdev"
(II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/ivtvdev_drv.o
(EE) LoadModule: Module ivtvdev does not have a ivtvdevModuleData data object.
(II) UnloadModule: "ivtvdev"
(II) Unloading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/ivtvdev_drv.o
(EE) Failed to load module "ivtvdev" (invalid module,0)

I also tired keeping the ivtv_xv.o name and modifying my xorg.conf to
use ivtv_xv instead but got

(II) LoadModule: "ivtv_xv"
(WW) Warning, couldn't open module ivtv_xv
(II) UnloadModule: "ivtv_xv"
(EE) Failed to load module "ivtv_xv" (module does not exist, 0)

I tried ivtv_xv_drv.o too and got a similar error to the first attempt
(just s/ivtvdev/ivtv_xv/).
