There has been a Fox Sports Radio affiliate dominating 1070 all night. Still there at 0520 CST 18 Jan 09. Might be WKOK. No sign of WTSO Madison, WI ESPN which is the usual dominant on 1070 in these parts. I have not waited around for TOH I.D. to see if it is WKOK. Pat Martin reports good conditions to the east, so maybe WKOK's 1 kW is doing the job during these conditions. The forecast is for the temp to go above zero again on Friday. Yesterday's --46 F over the hill away from Lake Superior has some of the locals rather ornery. Tonight's forecast of --35 F has them feeling better. There are 3 reasons for these low temps: I. HAARP 2. Global warming. 3. McDonald's fries. I'm not complaining about that. I've managed to log a few new ones because of it. I wish more stations would cheat for a few nights. Just long enough for me to log them. A cheater is a cheater. The broadcasters and engineers have their own lists. Why should we let a lurker from some other list determine what is said on the DX lists? 1130 WISN WI Milwaukee. At 1853 CDT 16 Sept 07. Decoded as WISN HD. About 400 miles. 720 WGNIL Chicago. At 2057 CDT 16 Sept 07. Decoded as WGN. About 500 miles. Currently WBBM 780 being ruined by WABC 770 hash. Earlier 690 CINF being buried by WLW 700 hash. 710 has been a lost cause all evening with hash from 700 WLW and 720 WGN. I won't be sending letters to any stations to report that their signal has been trashed since I am in no ones service area.
