like an older model - and Winamp runs fine with JAWS on single-channel
cards. A driver is the set of instructions that makes a software program

, and add ware are the ones Id run. I havent used spyware blaster yet,
so I cant say to much about it.
If you want my personal recommendation, Id use one of the pay spyware
programs such as spyware doctor, and spy sweeper. Im running spy sweeper
right now, and absolutely love it. I also used spyware doctor in the
past, and its also a great spyware solution

1. Ad Aware 1.06

3. Spyware Blaster 3.5.1

2007-07-28 Thread Lennie Rinaldi
Cathy,

You are right. CTRL+PageUp will take you back one page. You can also
do CTRL+Shift+S and enter a page number to go directly to a
particular page. This is useful if you got a lot of pages.

You can find this information and other short-cut keys by entering Insert+H.

Hope this helps.

Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws with Vista

2007-07-28 Thread Thomas Lutes
In case your computer does not have an icon for the volume control in the
system tray, then there is another way to get to it. From the desktop, tab
once then hit enter to open the start menu. press enter on Programs. open
accessories, then entertainment then under entertainment, there is an icon
for volume. Press enter on this. It will put you on the page where the
various volume settings are located.

Hope this helps.

When you are on the desktop, tab over four times. This will take u to
the notification area. You now simply arow around until you locate the
 volume control.

Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws with Vista

2007-07-28 Thread Tim
That works for xp, but people with vista are saying that the below
placement for volume controls is not right.
So would those running vista answer this question so we all know.

At 02:29 PM 7/28/2007, you wrote:
In case your computer does not have an icon for the volume control in the

once then hit enter to open the start menu. press enter on Programs. open
accessories, then entertainment then under entertainment, there is an icon
for volume. Press enter on this. It will put you on the page where the
various volume settings are located.

Hope this helps.

ok this is where it is.
When you are on the desktop, tab over four times. This will take u to

Re: [JAWS-Users] spy ware programs

2007-07-28 Thread Ricque
Hi Patti,
These are 2 different programs.
The names are a clue as to what they are:
ad-aware: removes adware.
Spy-bot: removes spyware.
Don't put a lot of thought into the names.
Just remember, that both work well, with Jaws, do the job for which they were
intended, and are
free.
Install them, update, and run them on a regular basis.

Re: [JAWS-Users] spy ware programs

2007-07-28 Thread carlene knight
Hi:

I use the AVG antispyware as well as antivirus. It actually caught some
spyware that spy doctor which was one of the top rated programs didn't.
I'm not sure how accessible it is as far as the set up goes because,
I'll confess, my sighted husband set it up. He's got it set up so that
it automatically scans once a week. It might be worth looking into
though. It's a great program.

 Hi Patti,
 These are 2 different programs.
The names are a clue as to what they are:
 ad-aware: removes adware.
 Spy-bot: removes spyware.
Don't put a lot of thought into the names.
Just remember, that both work well, with Jaws, do the job for which they
 were intended, and are
 free.
Install them, update, and run them on a regular basis.

[JAWS-Users] wireless problems

2007-07-28 Thread carlene knight
 Hi:

I'm having trouble with my wireless connection. When I'm connected to
the internet with Internet Explorer, and the wireless connection is
broken, a message pops up informing me that Windows will continue to try
and connect. A few minutes later another message pops up saying that
it's trying to connect to a 3g connection. If I hit cancel, it informs
me that a dial tone was not found. I don't even own a home phone.
Could this be spyware, or as I suspect, a crazy setting? I went into
properties, and selected general, but JAWS wouldn't read the list that
I'm sure is there. I'm running IE 7 and JFW 7.10.500. How can I get
JAWS to select anything? I tried to use control tab to switch between
pages, but to no availl. It would just stay on General. When I hit
enter again, it threw me clear out, and I was back where I started.
I've probably confused you all, however Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: [JAWS-Users] wireless problems

2007-07-28 Thread Flor Lynch
JAWS is reporting correctly, the way you have been trying. Go into tools
Internet Options with alt+t, o; then go to the Connections tab and explore
it. You probably need to set the radiobutton 1 of 3 to never dial a
connection.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] wireless problems

Thanks.

I frequently have problems with JAWS not speaking portions of a word or
line, entire lines, and multiple lines.
I think it is a video conflict with JAWS and the computer. Here is what I
do when I encounter these problems. I start with the first item on the
below list, and if that does not fix the problem I move on down the list.

Repeatedly move the mouse in a upward or downward direction to move it off
of the area where I am trying to work. Of course I haven't an idea where
the mouse is moving to, but my goal is to move it to the top or bottom of
the screen. My thought is that there is less chance that it will
 interfere
 with what I am doing.

Use Insert+ESC to refresh the screen.

Select the word, phrase, line, paragraph that you are having trouble
 reading
Then use Insert+ESC to try refreshing the screen.

Use Alt+Tab to move away from the program and then move back to the
 program.

Insert+F4 to unload JAWS, and then Control+Alt+J to reload it. Before
doing this, make sure the version of JAWS that you are using has the
 Control+Alt+J short cut set up.

Close the document that you are working on and then re-open it.

Exit out of the program and then reload it.

If all of these tricks fail, give up on it for now and come back later,
 after a system reboot.

Font size can also effect how JAWS reads. I have found that Arial 12
 works
 well.

Also check your view. I prefer to use Print Layout in MS-Word in either
 Full-page or Page width view.
This is not the recommended view from FS. I do this because at work we
 deal
with a lot of text formatting and my co-workers find Normal layout to be
 a
 problem.

Just remember, that both work well, with Jaws, do the job for which they
 were intended, and are
 free.
Install them, update, and run them on a regular basis.

 is ok for my computer.
I'm using Jaws 8.0.2173, windows XP home, IE 7 and I have AVG. Which
 one

 SpyBot 1.5 July 2007
 3. Spyware Blaster 3.5.1
 Thanks for any help.

this program does in fact work with jaws. Im using it, and love it!
Its jaws friendly to an extent however. when your doing a scan, you
might have to route jaws to PC curser to rread what it found, and to
 select all to be quarantined.
 Hope this helps

someone else can amplify on avgantispy if there's a new version. marilyn
