Re: [JAWS-Users] Skype 8 for desktop answering incoming call?
That's very useful Cristobal, I took it that contrl-shift-p is only to start an audio call from our part, not as an answering shortcut. Using this logic, might contrl-shift-k answer directly in video mode, I wonder. I also want to draw our group's attention to the fact that on this computer, when hitting contrl-shift-k I need to use the bypass key first, jawskey-3 first. Otherwise a window dealing with place markers opens and I am not sure if you can get rid of this. Hi Kevin, Actually, it is not known as the Jaws Help Archives, It is simply www.jaws-users.com There is a section for help, that pertains to the e-mail list only, and the archives pertain to the e-mail list as well. As you navigate the site, you will see the individual pages for Tips and Tricks, Programs etc. HTH, Rick Justice "Tomorrow's another day, another way!" [JAWS-Users] Replay Radio?
Hey folks. I was looking through a bunch of old stuff, and came across a backup I made of this software years ago along with recordings of my old radio show. I used it on an XP machine, and at that time it was at version 7. I remember it was a very neat programme and also rather accessible without much fiddling around. Out of curiosity I did a google search and was slightly surprised to discover that Replay is still around. They're at version 11 now and from looking at their page it seems like they focus a lot more on mobile devices and a subscription service. They are also touting this "media guide" as the best way to use the thing, but I wouldn't be likely too interested in that. I'd probably just want to plug in a URL and port number and time like I used to do and have the programme record while I'm away from the computer. As this was a nice programme back in the day and came bundled with a few useful utilities, though, I wondered if anyone still uses it? Has the experience changed much? Hi there, I'm writing this message using Outlook 2016 with Windows 10, I'm wondering if the configuration of JAWS is having issues with the copy of the Microsoft product. I'm no longer using Windows 7, haven't used it since I went all Windows 10. There are a couple things you can try; Call VFO Group to see if they have any solutions, if that doesn't resolve things there, I'd try calling the Disability Answer Desk at Microsoft. That seems like a lot of trouble to go through just to visit a website. Although I understand problems can occur, JAWS versions are *supposed* to operate independently and you are *supposed* to be able to have as many different versions installed on your machine as you like. Re: [JAWS-Users] Any tips on reading websites with text in graphics?
Try converting the page to a PDF file. In Windows 10 you can do this with "microsoft pdf printer" or something like that (sorry, I can't remember the name) using the print option in your browser. Once that's done, you can try using the JAWS OCR feature to recognise text within graphics. This might work in theory, but to be honest, I haven't had a great time with JAWS OCR at all. Fortunately Adobe Acrobat Pro + Windows 10 can oCR documents on their own. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List On Behalf Of Greg Washington Sent: July 18, 2018 6:44 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Any tips on reading websites with text in graphics? [JAWS-Users] Word 13 and Read Only Mode on External Hard Drive
Afternoon all. Using JAWS 2018, Word 13 and Windows 10 on a Dell laptop. I have had this problem for some time now. Whenever I open a Word document on my external hard drive, I get a message that JAWS does not support read only mode. I am given some instructions for correcting this, but after closing the message, I cannot activate the ribbons/menu bar. And then I cannot get JAWS to read subject lines in my inbox of WLM. So, I have to close all programs and restart my computer. And if that were not enough, I get this message for “creating hard link”. Anybody out there ever have this problem, and if so, what is the fix? Any ideas/suggestions will be deeply appreciated. Thanks in advance. Re: [JAWS-Users] Updating to 2018 from 15
Your JAWS will just install independently of the previous version. JAWS 15 will still be on your computer and available. As for outlook, you should probably export (read back up) your data just in case. However it is supposed to not touch such things. Indeed, when I made the switch from Outlook 2010 a few weeks back, I didn't have to use the backup. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List On Behalf Of wayne smith Sent: July 18, 2018 2:03 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Updating to 2018 from 15 Hello all- For those who have multiple versions of JAWS running on a machine, if I download 2018 and I have 15 running will I be able to keep the previous version automatically or do I need to do something to have both versions available to me? Hi friends, Not sure if anyone else has noticed but when I open a message in Microsoft Outlook 2016 to read it, I seem to have to press ctrl+home every time to take the cursor to the top of the message so that I can start reading it line by line. Is there any way to stop this or a reason for it please? Many thanks in anticipation, This message may contain confidential information. [JAWS-Users] update problem
I am running the latest version of Jaws on a Win7 64 bit machine. Here is my problem; when I use the save as control and I change the folder when move to save the file or email, Jaws tells me a standard suggested method, it no longer reads the file name. The file is there and I can read the file name with a say line command, but this is an extra step in the process so saving a file. I believe that Jaws used to read the file name automatically. Any ideas? Did I ramble too long! Have a great day, 73 Bob Hicks, KC8CR For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Re: [JAWS-Users] Skype 8 for desktop answering incoming call?
Hi Cristobal-all, Indeed, there seems to be none. What I am doing is alt-tab to the skype window once I heard the signal, then windows-v to open the various options and tabbing to answer call. Then once speaking, I have to tab till I get to "turn on video" and there we are. Hope this helps, Takis -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Cristobal Munoz Sent: Wednesday, July 18, 2018 2:09 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Skype 8 for desktop answering incoming call? Hello list, So, I upgraded Skype for desktop on a laptop to try to get used to it before MS kills Skype classic in September. I came across some short cut keys from: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA12025/what-are-hotkeys-and-how-do-i-use-t hem-in-skype What I'm not finding is the hotkey to answer an incoming call. I can't believe that there isn't one for such a basic function, but it's not listed in the table. Start a call, hang up, mute, that's all fine, but nothing for answering a call. Am I missing something or is this really not included as a shortcut key?
