Re: [JAWS-Users] display name for this group

2016-12-12 Thread Kimsan Song
Yep. Under the general tab is where I put Kimsan, but if it can't be resolved,
I'm not worried about it. In other words, not a hill I choose to die on. It
was just a minor request, like please light on the ice for my long island ice
teac. lol

At least people know what to type in after performing a google search about
yours truly since my first and last name are reflected in the headers. Smile.

Like Señor Ferrin said, it has been changed, so unless you're not changing it
in the correct place within Outlook I don't know what to tell you. In Outlook
Express you change it in Tools / Accounts / Properties, & on the General tab,
it's the , Name field.
Take care.

2016-12-11 Thread Kimsan Song
As far as the link thing goes, can't you silence the link announcement in the
setting center/web/html? I suppose I should test it out before offerring the
suggestion.
I had that issue here an there where it would say the email address for inbox
issue. I've never used seamonky but here in outlook, I just had to rename the
datafile which took care of that problem.

Hi,
You should be using the beginner verbosity, because it explains more of what is
happening on the screen and you can make more adjustments in the jaws option
menu.

The link describes that there is a link the jaws cursor encounter and by
pressing the enter key activates the link.
It's normal to hear the name that wrote to you and subject and the time it was
sent.
It all depends on your email program you are using, Mines says, jorge's PFT,
when I open my email program.

Do you hear your name and username on every email in your inbox, when you are
narrowing?
Maybe someone else can chime in and explain on how to remove that message from
your email settings?

Maybe, if you use the advance verbosity, your issue might go away.
HTH,
Jorge

Hi everyone. There are a few verbosity settings that I want to change while
reading email and can't find which setting to change. I'm using Seamonkey for
email.
When you read email, is there a way to stop jaws from saying link everytime you
hit an email link?
Also when I open an email it say the subject and name again which is fine but
it says inbox for rilni...@gmail.com and x estern is there any way to turn that
off? Otherwise everything is reading perfectly.
Tanks. The same also happens in Thunderbird.

Yes. It is actually not crashing, but it is closing down and reloading. I
also notice it is often very slow when I execute a JAWS find.

Hello list
Since the latest upgrade of jaws 18 it crashes 9 out of ten times when I
open ie11 on my windows10 pc. Then I must wait until it restarts. I find it
to be less responsive in firefox. Do other listers also encounter this?

Re: [JAWS-Users] Fw: GMX Webmail

2016-12-05 Thread Kimsan Song
The set up process was straight forward.
However, I would advise you to have your sighted wife help with the visual
challenge as it asks to select all the immages that have a store front for
example, there are no mixed letters and numbers. On the flip side however, the
audio capcha works great. To add to that, after you solve a capcha, it's not
just once, twice, you must solve different capchas. I think I had to do like 4
or 5? So in other words, if you do the capchas, be prepared to solve the capcha
a few more times. The numbers are spoken crystal clear, at least for me.
As far as the interfase is concerned for the web mail, I have yet to visit it,
as I quickly configured the account in outlook. I might visit the web based
tomorrow, as I'm watching WWE. Priorities haha.

I emailed you with my gmx email btw.

Kevin,

Once you land on "Playback device," you are at the top of the list of devices
on your system. Don't tab. Instead, arrow down until you hear the device you
wish to make your default. As I recall, the applications key comes in very

Re: [JAWS-Users] replying directly to sender

2016-12-02 Thread Kimsan Song
Which in some cases the sender could be the list.

I hope I didn't spark any debate or issue. I just noticed that for example, if
Mike b my brother from another mother posted a message from this list, and I
wanted to reply to him directly, it went to him and not the list.
That keystroke insert shift r has not worked since I got married which was over
10 years ago. As far as replying to sender from a mailing list where CTRL r
would do the trick. I think the best thing to do is someone just try that reply
to an email where there isn't a mailing list. So for example, if Mike sent an
email to me, bob, and Rick just to make up names, if you do that keystroke, it
should only go to Mike and not the other people.
My primary focus was replying to the original sender.
I'm trying to make sense here and I hope I did cause I've been drinking.

Kimsan, I included an error in my message. To shift focus to another field in
an Outlook message, press the alt combination twice quickly. The shift key
isn't involved. Thus, alt-3 twice quickly to land in the "To " field, etc.

Related shortcuts are alt-5 for the subject line and alt-6 for the bcc line.
Alt-1 works for the "From" line, but not when you're composing a message. I
guess MS assumes you know you're the sender.

Agreed. Just one tweak to make the confirmation process faster. For step 2,
rather than shift-tab several times, press alt-3 to hear the text in the "to"
line. I also press alt-4 to hear the "cc" line, just in case. It saves a lot of
tabbing.

Since I mention those two keystrokes, I'll add that if you want to change focus
to the "To" field, add the shift key. Do the same for the other fields.

Hi Kimsan,

There's a couple of things to remember when invoking the reply directly to
sender keystroke.
1. When invoking the, Insert / Jaws key, Shift, + R, keystroke you should hear,
Replying directly to sender, edit, To & the email address of the person you are
replying to, or something close.
2. To make sure you're replying to that individual instead of the list, always,
shift + tab, up to the, To field, to make sure their email address is there
instead of the list email address.

Take care.

Which version of jaws and outlook are you using?

It just depends on how your outlook is set up with relative to the list then.
When I use insert shift r sith my pc, it goes to the list. I have to copy and
paste the e-mail address into my outlook of the person who I want to send the
message to if it's from a list. I will look for a way to change the settings
around and see if I can get that to work.

On a side note, phew, I'm a terrible speller. I spell checked for one word for

For step 2,

Hi Kimsan

I use Outlook 2010, but I am assuming that the following is still true in
Outlook 2016. When JAWS says closed or open after a folder name, it means that
there are sub-folders under that folder in addition to any items that may be in
that folder. This can happen if a folder is imported while you're in the named
folder instead of the root folder. Outlook's default is to import a folder
under the currently open folder. If A folder says closed, you can press right
arrow to open the list of sub-folders and navigate through that list and open
each sub-folder to see what's inside. However when you navigate through the
list of sub-folders, JAWS gives no indication when you reach the last
sub-folder in the list but will merrily move to the next main folder. If you
hear opened after the folder name, you can use left arrow to close the list of
sub-folders.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] I'm back! Outlook question.

Hi Guys,

For some reason my emails were not going through to the list and we were asked
to consult our email providers or ISP's but I got no where with that.
I unsubscribed, and later on down the road I resubscribed, hoping I would be
let back into the house, which after looking into my junk folder, I saw the
email to confirm my subscription, so here I am. Here is my question, hopefully
it will make sense...

Without typing a long story, in short, I moved email folders I created over to
another destination, and later on decided to move them back, but I'm noticing
that 2 folders state close after focusing on the folder, for example, contacts
close and the other one it says calendar close. It shouldn't say that right?
Normally, based on my thinking that closed would indicate a treeview? Thoughts
anyone? I'm using latest jaws 17 and outlook 2016.

Great to be able to post here again seeing as this list I think is going on
10 years!

Respectfully,

Kimsan Song

[JAWS-Users] mail on windows 10

2016-07-14 Thread Kimsan Song
I’m writing from the windows mail app on windows 10. With the latest jfw 17
update, I can now read the emails and respond to them accordingly. Before, when
wanting to read an email, I had to reply to the email, read it first then back
to the top and reply to it if desired. The to field however, when typing in
email addresses do not work, still but I’m sure it will eventually.

[JAWS-Users] multiple accounts in the mail ap in windows 10

2016-05-19 Thread Kimsan Song
As I continue to use this mail ap since I’m bored here at work, I found out
that once pressing CTRL n to create a new email, if you have more than one
account configured, a list will come up with the email accounts that you have
configured.
So, up or down arrow and press enter on the account you’d like to use then
proceed to compose your email.

To all those using the windows 10 mail ap, if you happen to read my message
stating that reading emails do not work or I couldn’t get it to work, but just
now I figured out how to do so and I would like to see if it will work for
anyone else using the mail ap on windows 10.
In short, instead of pressing the down arrow to read, I pressed CTRL down arrow
and I was able to read the email.
Now, if only the to field will echo after typing in the address! Lol.

Re: [JAWS-Users] posting a photo to Facebook

2015-06-08 Thread Kimsan Song
Using the m.facebook site I do the following:
1. In the search after pressing CTRL f I type photos and press enter.
(for the next step I suggest being at the bottom of the page)
2. Press shift f3, and you should land on photos so press spacebar/or
enter on the link.
3. Now CTRL f once more and type photo and press enter.
4. This will locate the first instance of the word photo on the new
screen. From memry you are looking for add a photo or upload a photo.
If none of those appear, press f3 to locate the next occurrence of the
word, u will find it, trust me.
5. Click that link, press b to place you on the browse button and
locate your photo.
The last step should be locating a done button, upload button this is
where I forgot.
I can't double check at the moment, as I am at work and facebook is
restricted, but twitter isn't, go figure. hahaha.
I would put a placemarker on the photos link from the first step,
because if you search for it, and keep pressing shift f3, you will go
through tons of occurrances of the word photo for example, kimsan has
uploaded a new photo, david has uploaded a new photo, mike has
uploaded a new photo, etc.

 Hello:
Several weeks back I was suggested to remove my shutdown shortcut from
the taskbar, place it on the desktop or elsewhere, go in the

into the project, arrange and/or mix and match them, set the length of time
for each photo to stay in view, add enhancements, etc. Same with the audio,
or I believe you can actually use the movie maker itself to narrate the

My grandson has another strange French homework assignment.
He has to get some pictures and narrate the slide show.
Now for the verbal parts I think that I can have him use my Olympus recorder
and gold wave for that part.
I have no idea how to help him make the slide show production and add the
narration. He has to have it on a dvd or flash player to take back in
 school. All help appreciated.

Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws menu

2015-05-12 Thread Kimsan Song
It's in the start up wizard option under help in the second window
that appears.

If you have jaws 16 on your desktop, press enter on it and a context
menu will appear. Up arrow until you arrived to the help submenu, use
the down arrow to get to start up wizard and press enter. Tab to the
next button, spacebar there, and then tab until you hear the option
run jaws from system tray and press spacebar to check the box.
Tab to next, the next window tab to next until you see finish.

 Hi Miriam,

Does Jaws show in the system tray? If not this is probably why the
keystroke, Insert + J, isn't opening Jaws options. Try the following to
 get
Jaws to run from the system tray:
 1. Alt + Tab to the Jaws window.
 2. Press, Alt + the letter O, to open Jaws options.
 3. Press enter on, Basics.
 4. Tab to, Run JAWS from System Tray checkbox not checked, press the
 spacebar to check this box.
 5. Tab to, Okay, press enter to save your change close Jaws options.
 6. Restart Jaws or your computer for the change to take place.

when I go to the links list, Jaws is only reading the first letter of the

2015-04-24 Thread Kimsan Song
 What up bro:

I have 9 items on my taskbar. The last item is my shutdown shortcut,
so all I have to do is press windows key 9 to shutdown quickly. If
I'd like to place it at number 1, I simply focus on that item then
press CTRL numpad slash and jaws will say: To drag and drop place the
jaws or pc curser in the dropped location and press CTRL numpad slash.
After jaws says that, I tapped my left or right arrow key until I got
to internet explorer which for me I know is the first item on the
taskbar, then I pressed the above keystroke again and it worked for
me.
Now what was item 9 is now item 1. When I dragged and dropped my 9th
item over to the first item, the first item became the second item on
the taskbar.

I, too, use both browsers although I keep Firefox as the default since it
is generally considered to be more secure than IE. If I have trouble with
a site then I switch to IE.
Ninite.com is the easiest way to install the program. I use it for all the
installations I possibly can since it is so automatic and doesn't install
 any extra junk.

One thing that makes it especially nice when switching back and forth
between the two browsers is the ability to use the regular Favorites menu
in Firefox. To do this you need to install the add on Plain Old Favorites.
 This is available from
 http://www.iosart.com/firefox/plainoldfavorites/
Open the link in Firefox and install from there.
I never use the bookmarks in FF but always use the Favorites menu. The
only quirk I have found is that when adding a favorite from FF it works
best when choosing the Add favorite and then using alt tab twice to move
away from the window and then right back. Then just tab to the add button
 as usual.
One other difference between IE and FF is that to open a private window in
FF you find it in the file menu while in IE it is in the tools menu.

I don't like webmail all that much and this one has no headings, no fast

to get around for the most part, except I have never set up any account on

My phone book is a text file that I open with Notepad. Depending on
what computer I am using, depends on how I use this method.

On one computer I just have a desktop shortcut that launches Notepad

Searching is easy, because it is not dependent on fields. I assigned
 the shortcut key
 control+alt+P.

The second option is on a PC where I keep track of seldom used
 information.
 Here too I use Notepad.

Under the Documents folder I put a folder called Lists. Here there are
a few text files that are dependent on a topic. One is my phone list
of course and the others are a variety of items like supplier information
 and so on.

The shortcut on that desktop instead of loading a specific file, it
calls up Windows Explorer putting me in my Lists folder. Now I can
arrow up and down and when I land on the text file I want, I press
enter and Notepad calls it up nicely. And to keep things straight in
my head the shortcut I assigned is
 control+alt+L.

Now if your requirements are more complex, then this isn't the
 solution for you.

I have attempted to run the latest update for the Qube and it doesn't
launch for me. I have had suggestions for trouble shooting from

don't like being followed lol.

 Hi listers,
Yesterday I noticed that the Qube icon was no longer showing on my desktop.
I went into the program and attempted to run a new session, but never got
past the prompt to authorize a new app or whatever it says. If I uninstall
it, what free twitter app works similarly? I realize that the Qube is no
longer in development. Ironically, I recently installed Twitterific on my
Iphone 5S but haven’t really done anything with it. Does Twitterific have a
PC version and does it work well with JAWS 12.0? Any advice on whether to
mess with this further or find a workable alternative much appreciated.

Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook addresses

2011-03-07 Thread Kimsan Song
I am aware of the email addresses that pop up are not the same as the ones
that are in my address book. I googled my issue and found a possible
solution but lol I am afraid to try it out because I am afraid that I might
dammage my system and some folks on this list already know that I have
punked my system numerous times in a short period of time.
Anyways, what I found out via the use of google was that i need to clear the
auto-complete email address cash.
Now here are the steps that i need to take and this is for outlook 2003.

list of 3 items
• Start typing in the address that shows up incorrectly.
• Hit the Down arrow key to select the auto completed address.
• Hit the Delete key to delete the auto complete address
list end

The other way is by opening the profile folder and deleting the .nk2 file.

list of 2 items
• Open up windows explorer, and paste the following into the address
bar:%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Outlook

• Delete the Outlook.NK2 file that you find in this folder.
list end
Ok, what is outlookNK2 and if I am understanding this right, if I delete the
outlookNK2, the addresses that automatically pop up will no longer pop up?
I know how to turn off automatic phill in outlook 2007 but that is not the
issue I am trying to resolve. As I stated the other night, I have tons of
emails that just randomly pop up when typing in the to field and I want to
rid them and never have them pop up again. This solution that I coppied and
pasted here I am thinking might work but again, I don't know what the
outlookNK2 file is and what that will do or if possibly dammage my outlook.
Anyone want to try it?:)
Take care.

[JAWS-Users] outlook addresses

2011-03-06 Thread Kimsan Song
lol I forgot I had a different email address for this mailing list, so let
me resend my message.

Hello:

Using outlook 2007 I was wondering something.

I noticed when auto fill is checked or whatever its called, every time I
type in an email address or even the first letter of a person a random email
will pop up. Example, I type k and kimsans...@charter.net will pop up,
instead of ko...@yahoo.com.

So, my question is how can I remove all of those email addresses of which
199% of them I just emailed once and have no need for them anymore. I hope
that question made sense.

Take care everyone.

Does pressing alt plus shift plus B bring up your address book the way it
does with Outlook Express? From there it is just a matter of pressing the
delete key for any email addresses you no longer want.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Ejecting a device in Windows 7

2011-03-05 Thread Kimsan Song
 Hi,
Here's what I did when I couldn't figure that one out.
1. CTRL pannel and in the search field typed in notification.
2. tabbed until I heard notification area ICONS link and pressed enter.
3. After pressing enter you should land on an ok button.
4. I tabbed until I heard list windows explorer combo box and made sure it
was set on to show icons and notifications.
If you would like to verify this is where you need to be just route jaws to
pc and read down one line when you are on the windows explorer combobox and
it should read safely remove hard ware and eject media.
5. I tabbed over to the ok button and pressed spacebar.
Hope this helps.
