It doesn't make sense to keep content from the current site, thanks, that would be great. as the non-standard parts (such as company listings, or books) are totally outdated now. However, until we have the new stuff I would keep it as it is for now. Otherwise we would have standard webpages (from "xx") in English. Assuming I can do all this myself (and that I remember the process that, if I recall correctly, starts with the "XX" site templates), I see basically two options: 1. Create /it-new and host the site there until it's done; this allows easy peer review. You can create an index2.html file and disable it in the robots.txt file to keep the search bots away. Then you can add your translations step by step. It would be online but nobody knows. 2. Use a new branch on my Github fork (and locally); this makes peer review possible but more complex, as the reviewer must rebuild the site. When nobody can reach it (because it's only local for you) it doesn't make sense for me. Is there a preference between the two options? I would say #1 when you create the new stuff in parallel. Again, thanks for taking care. happy new year to you. :-) Do you still want to work on the update for Italian? It seems a little more clear to me since Tigran has been working on the hy set. that's great. In the meantime the text in the staging area [1] was improved. So, you can see where and how the text is displayed. One more thing that is important: Please don't expect every text in the same file. E.g., here [1]: The data in the header, breadcrumbs, navigation header, body and footer are in different files. This is our templating system to ensure the same look & feel on every page. Am 12.05.21 um 11:44 schrieb Dean.Webber: I have updated the "main" page for the Esperanto (EO) language, code is available at https://justpaste.it/8yuud. This was initiated from the dev-mailing-list under subject "OOo:eo Localization page" Going forward, there is probably a better way to do this direct from the html for someone who know coding. But it only really took me about half a day to translate this in a text editor with no prior knowledge, on a basic workstation. This language was pretty easy to do, because it shares roots with the english language. I cannot imagine doing this for some of the more exotic languages... I hope all is well with everyone. I think this is a great point for a start. Thanks for the translations so far. I've saved it locally in the case that it is somehow deleted suddenly. I'll try to include it in the website and will build a webpage in the staging area for testing (OK, mostly it's only reading ;-) ). I'll do this in the next days. Please be patient. Ideally, "hash" should be translated as it is what it is: a common English noun in what is otherwise a page in another language. In fact, "hash" is already used /and/ translated on the same page in the ensuing two lines ("Signatures and hashes […]"). A visitor who knows what "hash" means will find instances of it both translated and untranslated on the same page and will tend to interpret the situation as linguistic inconsistency and negligence. Overall, if we cling to the principle of AOO and its website being subject to localization, technical solutions should ensure the principle is upheld. Marcus, your presence, expertise, and input, very much appreciated! I'm waiting now since some days to get more feedback but I think there is no one else speaking up. The effort would be to do the following: - update every release item of the release matrix - extract the "SVN" and "Git hash" terms - put these terms into the *.msg files for every language - that needs to be translated into the respective language, otherwise it's still in English and nothing is won ;-) - create a logic to identify if the release is based on SVN or Git IMHO it's way too much effort for to less benefit. of course when there would be a bigger rework on these webpages then we can include this. Re: Website – Download – Git hash
Am 21.02.20 um 12:16 schrieb Aivaras Stepukonis: Thanks for the explanation! In Polish we have "hasz" which is exact reflection of how this world is pronounced in English. We used to get a warning on this list about new material available for translation. Would it be possible to somehow 'restore' those warnings? Maybe add translators to the watch and click 'Notify Watchers' when a new page is created, if possible? Just an ignorant thought. I don't remember what you mean by warning.
