[SlimDevices: Plugins] Regular FM Radio

2008-08-14 Thread WSLam

Just wondering. Say if I run SC7.1 on a MCE or OS X machine with a FM
Tuner card for regular (non internet streaming) radio, can I 'feed' the
radio into Slim and make it available to all the SB3/Duet?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Regular FM Radio

2008-08-14 Thread bpa

Possibly - it depends on the card and whether there is a suitable
interface for the OS which enables the card to be tuned and a audio
stream to be used by an application.

There are solutions for Tuner cards using V4L interface on Linux boxes.
It is also possible to use Griffin RadioShark on Linux via USB.

Provide more specifics as MCE and OSX are not similar.

way, Vista (MCE) or get a MacMini and run OS X...

Hi Tim, did you ever get IRBlaster to work ? , I'm trying it with my
Meridian 551 and nothing works, I'm getting a signal from the emitter
cable ( it has a red LED which flashes when it receives a signal ) but
nothing happens, In the setup page for my TP, I select MSR as the

as the signal to emit for power on.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Config file for MSR+ w IR Blaster

2008-08-14 Thread timmorris

I had no luck with the file from lirc.org, I think there must be an
error in there somewhere. I've now got learned codes for CD, Off, Vol+
and Vol- which work all the time. Upgrading to 7.2 seemed to fix the
problems I had with it not turning on all the time particularly when
using the SBR. Testing always seemed to work.

I found the best way to learn codes is the same way as I do with my
Pronto: hold the button down until the wizard has captured the string.
Last time I tried I couldn't get the headphone socket to connect
directly to the amplifier I still need to use a blaster. Now I have it
working I'll try that again.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Regular FM Radio

2008-08-14 Thread ralphy

I use a RadioSHARK 2 usb FM/AM tuner from linux with squeezecenter.

I use the tcpserver program from the ucspi-tcp package, a bash script
and several support programs which allows me to tune the radioshark to
any AM/FM channel and choose either an mp3 or flac stream for FM all
from the the Tune-IN url or favourites.

I can post the script if anyone is interested. It's based on the one
from

http://www.blott-online.com/soundcard.html

I added the channel changing and flac support and use alsa to grab the
audio from the RS.

Perhaps the windows tools that come on the RS CD would allow you to do
something similiar.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Regular FM Radio

I think the windows radio you are thinking of was a DAB tuner called
Wavefinder.

Also some users with cable/satellite boxes with a web interface have
used them to get MP2 streams of their local FM stations.

I have a similar but different Radio Shark Linux setup based on a
plugin.

I've looked at writing a USB app for Radio Shark for Windows but didn't
do any implementation.

Tuner cards such as made by Hauppauge do not publish their interfaces
for Windows or OSX so it seems it is only on Linux that 3rd party apps
use these cards.

Hi there, follow the steps outlined below

1) Copy the plugin zip file to the root plugin folder on the RN ( in my
case it's /usr/share/squeezecenter/Plugins )
2) SSH into the RN , I used a Linux box using this command, ssh
192.168.1.45 (substitute with your ip address
3) cd into the /usr/share/squeezecenter/Plugins folder.
4) Unzip the file - unzip nameofplugin.zip
This will create a new subfolder with the name of the plugin you're
installing.
5) You then need to restart the squeezecenter service

/etc/init.d/squeezecenter restart

you should be good to go, let me no if you need more assistance

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Moose 0.67 (Windows frontend)

2008-08-14 Thread tamanaco

I started using SC 7.2 and recently noticed a couple problems with Moose
0.67a.

1. When using the Album Chooser drop down window to play tracks... the
tracks are not sorted correctly on albums that I have added recently.
The albums that I added prior to 7.2 are fine. All albums, including the
ones I added recently, are sorted correctly when I view them via the
library tree.

2. SqueezeSlave on the desktop is broken. It jumps randomly from track
to track after it plays the first track. I suspect that something has
changed with the SqueezeSlave interface in 7.2 as it was working fine
with 7.1. Moose works fine if I select my SB3 as a player. Below are
the errors I see in the server log after I try selecting another song
to play in my desktop. The last line repeats endlessly.

You are correct. I don't know what the numbers mean. I can decode the
raw numbers a Pronto uses to represent IR but I'm afraid I don't speak
LIRC!

When you are learning using the wizard hold the button down until the
web page shows it has captured the code. That will ensure that it has
learned the code properly. They all have a lead-in, initial command,
repeating command and lead out. Sometimes the initial command and
repeating command are the same, sometimes not. Felix seems to have
built enough intelligence into his learning wizard to determine how to
replicate the command set.

I just had a friend round to look at pulling a cable for me who is a
CEDIA installer. He loves the power and customisation of the Duet and
would definitely use it himself at home but for customers Sonos is
easier. One support visit and his margin is gone.

bpa, I just copied that url and added it as a stations in the NPR
Radio settings. It shows up in my SB3 menu, but when I select it it
says Checking Stream, then goes to Now Playing, but I get no sound. I
have AlienBBC installed and all BBC stations are working. I tried that
URL on my desktop and it works. Any suggestions?

2008-08-14 Thread Ken

I have a Trinloc DAB MP3 recorder radio using DABBAR running on an XP
machine which works pretty well. Contrary to what the name implies it
streams the live output from the radio and using urls set up as
favourites it is possible to use it from any of my SBs.

I haven't used that URL for a while - it looks like some of the 7.1

At this point I have to admit I am really a noob with linux and stuff so
could you be so kind as to run me through the procedure on how to access

Thanks!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeScrobbler 1.0 for SqueezeCenter 7.0

2008-08-14 Thread MillmoorRon

Just looked on my LastFM page and my listening charts are all screwed up
because it is registering each song I play 60 or 70 times, all with the
same time!

How do I check if it is the plugin (using v1.1.12) that is doing this
or an error at LastFM? (The SC plugin is disabled)

I did recently upgrade to SC7.1 from 7.0.1 but this odd behaviour
started prior to that, however it doesn't do it ALL the time, which is
odd.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Regular FM Radio

2008-08-14 Thread bonze

There's a plugin listed on the Wiki pages called 'Tuner' - but again
that seems to be Linux.
The other possibility is WaveInput which streams audio from a PC
soundcard.
Maybe it could be persuaded to stream direct from the radiocard?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Trackstat showing in squeezecenter but not on Duet

2008-08-14 Thread Tver

I've installed trackstat 2.2.1 with Squeezecenter 7.1 and although some
functions work via the controller of the Duet (rating does work), it
does not show the Trackstat submenu in the music library.
It does show the trackstat submenu in squeezecenter (and also in
softsqueeze). Can somebady help to fix this?

Thanks!

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Plugins for 7.1

2008-08-14 Thread danco

I am wondering whether the plugins I mostly use are available for 7.1.

Specifically, Execute Script and PowerSave.

I also use SongScanner, but I get the impression that changes in 7.1
mean that this is both unnecessary and incompatible. However, I did
modify it to work (in 7.0) in large jumps, which is useful at times in
a long program, and I don't know if this functionality is present in
7.1.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: NPR Radio plugin

2008-08-14 Thread bpa

The Cartalk problem is as a result of CarTalk making use of a rarelyused
feature redirecting URLs.

The problem has two parts.

1. In AlienBBC - this can be fixed but would not stop playing of
tracks.

2. A bug in MPlayer results in an additional character added to the
redirected URL and so the track does not play because it is trying an
invalid URL. This will require a patch to fix mplayer and a new
version of mplayer to be built.

[EMAIL PROTECTED] - what OS do you use ?
