Compressing/Purging folder window
Hi there, Does anyone have a reason why that little window (appearing when I select e.g. "Purge all folders") has to be _system_ modal? I understand I can't continue working with The Bat! while those tasks are performed, but I don't know why I have to be disturbed in using other apps while that thing is visible. If you don't know what I mean: 1) Put some hundred mails to trash. Delete them from trash. 2) Select Folder/Purge all folders. 3) Open a "My Computer" window or whatever and try to continue working. The little status window floats above all other windows all the time, which is quite disturbing. Thanks! The Bat! - bug report
Hello The Bat! developers, I'm using The Bat! Version 1.38 under Windows 95 4.0 Build 950 and would like to report a bug The bug description: Closing Quick Search with "X" interferes with CTRL-Enter. Steps to reproduce the bug: With focus on a message in the messages list of the main window, press "f", which brings up the Quick Search window. Close the QS window by clicking on the "X" in corner of window. Press "Ctrl-Enter". A message window for replying does not open, but a reply is generated and placed in the OutBox. This does not happen when pressing "Escape" to close the Quick Search window. Close the QS PF window by clicking on the "X" in corner of window. Press PF "Ctrl-Enter". A message window for replying does not open, but a PF reply is generated and placed in the OutBox. This does not happen PF when pressing "Escape" to close the Quick Search window. I cannot confirm this. I just tried it out. I have tried with message auto-view and without. The behaviour is the same, wether I closed quick-search by clicking on the top-right corner "X" or by hitting ESC (but it makes a nice sound when I hit ESC). CRTL-Enter will open a message reply in the deidtor window in both cases. I don't know what they fixed between 1.38 and 1.38e, but 1.38e is the latest version I know of. -- Cheers, Thomas mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Message reply created with The Bat! 1.38e under Chinese Windows 98 4.10 Build 1998 using an Intel Celeron 366 Mhz, 128MB RAM -- -- View the TBUDL archive at http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com To send a message to the list moderation team double click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe from TBUDL, double click here and send the message: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] --
Re[2]: Compressing/Purging folder window
Hi all! TF Furthermore, the "cleaning up" (purging and compressing folders) takes TF ages (sometimes 10-15 minutes). Does that have to be so slow? Even in case when some folder has just been compressed, deleting single message and recompessing seems to be a function of a number of messages in the folder - and I am afraid, not linear. Well, it looks like a common scale-up problem for app' efficiency. We want to introduce some functionality, so we implement it in a way that it works somehow, not the best or fastest way -- but works. After customers've become outraged by app's results in theirs particular conditions, much stronger than developer's ones - developers start to think what to do. It is normal for any software development process - but in the case of RIT we have rather large quality assurance team - that list for releases and TBBETA for betas (though releases often looks like GA). Linux testing looks like that -- but it is a very different domain and bugs like one described by Thomas are fixed faster, even if fix requires re-design. Re: bug in 1.38 (maybe even earlier)

I use SHIFT-F2 alot and it always sends only from the active account. I tried it again just now with the same result. Are you using a DUN connection and is TB dialing to make a connection before sending? Re[2]: Two missing functions
Hello Paula, Saturday, December 11, 1999, 3:43:42 AM, you wrote: 1) I often send files via email and I would like that The Bat! will automatically encrypt the files with PGP. PF This has been requested by others also. Do you know when I can expect that feature ? 2) I know The Bat! can do that too, but after downloading the X lines the message will be automatically deleted from the server. PF Do you mean when using the Mail Dispatcher? No. PF If so, it doesn't delete the messages if you uncheck the Delete option, at least not for me. I mean a function where normal (short) mails are downloaded and deleted automatically and for longer (more than X kb) mails then only the first Y lines are downloaded and the message will keep on the server. If I want to download it then, I have to switch that option off. I think it is faster than the dispatcher.
