Good point Ron. Adding an unknown in any field keeps you from getting the
benefit of the search for Missing Information or including underlines for
missing information in reports.
In both of these features, Legacy is looking for empty fields and unknown
means the field isn't empty!

You guys can certainly Unknown or any other designation but I'm just

Another solution, which I thought of while reading your email, is to
empty your temporary internet cache. Each browser operates a little
differently on how it's done - generally under Tools Options or
Tools Internet Options. Then restart your computer to clear
everything out that may be hanging
Only use a gedcom when you're transferring files between different
programs, uploading to websites which ask for them or going back to an
older version of Legacy.

If you go to the Help file in Legacy and look up File extensions you
can find a list of all the files used in Legacy.
Don't delete anything with your file name. Those files work with the
data in your Family File.
They have an older date because you may not have used the applicable
feature

For a moment, ignore Tree Finder. Each individual or group in Tree
Finder shows the individual with the lowest RIN for that group. The
count shows the number of individuals in each tree.
Go to the Name List. Clickon the # field to sort by RINs. Look at the
number at the top border in the title
Changing the state abbreviations can be done by going to Options
Expand/Contract Location Parts as long as you have the locations
formatted correctly in Legacy with commas for missing elements in the
locations.

replace the co. with County?
You want to make sure you have Anywhere in field under How to find
and under How to Replace select Replace only found text with
replacement text

It takes the highest numbers and fills them in to the lower abandoned RINs.
RINs and MRINs are simply numbers assigned sequentially as you enter
individuals in the Family File or link couples together. They have no
other significance.
