I have been out here since this AM and have not seen any sign of the
Black-necked Stilts (BNST). That does not mean they are not around since my
focus was more on counting shorebirds instead of searching for the BNSTs.
On a side note, the Cattle Egret continued this AM at Cow Meadow Park.

field sparrows, and a juvenile white-crowned sparrow by the Coast Guard Station.
Warblers included pine, palm, blackthroated-blue, northern parula, American
redstart and blackpoll warbler.

batches of Rusty Blackbirds (totaling about 11) passing overhead. Calls and

Robert Moses, Jones Beach has served up a lovely bit of excitement. The pair of

of ants provided a feast for about a hundred Laughing Gulls at Jones Beach

RED-NECKED PHALAROPE right in front of the blind and 100s of peeps in the back
seen from the blind. They look mostly to be one species. least maybe.

Late this afternoon around 5 there was a nice collection of shorebirds on the
spit opposite the gazebo at the Coast Guard station, many in breeding plumage,
highlighted by about 5 Red Knots. Also present were Dunlin, SB Dowitchers,
Sanderlings, Semipalmated Sandpiper, Piping & Black-bellied

both sides of the road just before the turn into the Coast Guard Station.
Also, a pair of DARK-EYED JUNCOS and a very tame PALM WARBLER.
