Just wondering. Say if I run SC7.1 on a MCE or OS X machine with a FM
Tuner card for regular (non internet streaming) radio, can I 'feed' the
radio into Slim and make it available to all the SB3/Duet?

Possibly - it depends on the card and whether there is a suitable
interface for the OS which enables the card to be tuned and a audio
stream to be used by an application.
There are solutions for Tuner cards using V4L interface on Linux boxes.
It is also possible to use Griffin RadioShark on
I recall reading here a long time ago that a radio tuner card in a
windows machine can be fed into slimserver. i just can't seem to find
that post anymore...
i am still exploring. currently i am using XP, so I could go either
way, Vista (MCE) or get a MacMini and run OS X...

Hi Tim, did you ever get IRBlaster to work ? , I'm trying it with my
Meridian 551 and nothing works, I'm getting a signal from the emitter
cable ( it has a red LED which flashes when it receives a signal ) but
nothing happens, In the setup page for my TP, I select MSR as the

No - I think until the BBC iPlayer changes settle down there will be no
new versions of AlienBBC.
It there something wrong with the workaround ?

The current version of IRblaster (5.4) includes learning as part of the
standard download. I'm using the MSR+ as I've got a G68. The remotes
use the same device and function codes according to the Meridian web
site, just the new remote has more buttons.
I use CD for on, and the relevant buttons
I think the windows radio you are thinking of was a DAB tuner called
Wavefinder.
Also some users with cable/satellite boxes with a web interface have
used them to get MP2 streams of their local FM stations.
I have a similar but different Radio Shark Linux setup based on a
plugin.
I've looked

Delete current 5live AlienBBC entry and create a new radio 5 live entry
with the above URL. Then there will be no difference - nothing to
complain about.

Have been hoping for something like this. Thanks.

Hi pkfox,
could you explain how you installed a plug-in on the ReadyNas? How do
you access the Squeeze Center plug-in folder?

This is a 7.x plugin only - 7.x has some facilities (e.g. asynch HTTP)
which made it easy to implement.
A simple 6.5 version could lock up SS for 20 secs and nothing would
happen - no screen updates, no buffer refill etc.

Hi there, follow the steps outlined below
1) Copy the plugin zip file to the root plugin folder on the RN ( in my
case it's /usr/share/squeezecenter/Plugins )
2) SSH into the RN , I used a Linux box using this command, ssh

I started using SC 7.2 and recently noticed a couple problems with Moose

1. When using the Album Chooser drop down window to play tracks... the
tracks are not sorted correctly on albums that I have added recently.
The albums that I added prior to 7.2 are fine. All albums, including the
cparker, how long before we can see the test release you mentioned?
Thanks...

I think they are talking about a direct connect, which could be why I've
had no luck connecting the headphone output directly to the IR in port
on the back of the G68. I don't think the 5 series units have that
facility.

Car Talk doesn't need any special support just play the URL (make it a
Favorite or add into NPR Radio through menu edit in Settings)

You need AlienBBC installed as show is recored in RealAudio.

bpa, I just copied that url
I have a Trinloc DAB MP3 recorder radio using DABBAR running on an XP
machine which works pretty well. Contrary to what the name implies it
streams the live output from the radio and using urls set up as
favourites it is possible to use it from any of my SBs.

At this point I have to admit I am really a noob with linux and stuff so
could you be so kind as to run me through the procedure on how to access

Just looked on my LastFM page and my listening charts are all screwed up
because it is registering each song I play 60 or 70 times, all with the
same time!
How do I check if it is the plugin (using v1.1.12) that is doing this
or an error at LastFM? (The SC plugin is disabled)
I did recently
There's a plugin listed on the Wiki pages called 'Tuner' - but again
that seems to be Linux.
The other possibility is WaveInput which streams audio from a PC
soundcard.
Maybe it could be persuaded to stream direct from the radiocard?

It does show the trackstat submenu in squeezecenter (and also in

I also use SongScanner, but I get the impression that changes in 7.1
mean that this is both unnecessary and incompatible. However, I did
modify it to work (in 7.0) in large jumps,

The Cartalk problem is as a result of CarTalk making use of a rarelyused
feature redirecting URLs.
The problem has two parts.
1. In AlienBBC - this can be fixed but would not stop playing of
tracks.
2. A bug in MPlayer results in an additional character added to the
redirected URL and so the
