Later, when the nurses were going through his meager possessions, they found this poem. Its quality and content so impressed the staff that copies were made and distributed to every nurse in the hospital. One nurse took her copy to Missouri . The old man's sole bequest to posterity has since appeared in the Christmas edition of the News Magazine of the St. Louis Association for Mental Health. A slide presentation has also been made based on his simple, but eloquent, poem. And this little old man, with nothing left to give to the world, is now the author of this 'anonymous' poem winging across the Internet. Crabby Old Man What do you see nurses? . . . . . What do you see? What are you thinking . . . . . . . . when you're looking at me? A crabby old man . . . . . . . . . . . . not very wise, Uncertain of habit . . . . . . . . . . . . with faraway eyes? Who dribbles his food . . . . . . . . . . . and makes no reply. When you say in a loud voice . . . . . 'I do wish you'd try!' Who seems not to notice . . . . . . . . . the things that you do. And forever is losing . . . . . . . . . . . . A sock or shoe? Who, resisting or not . . . . . . . . . . . lets you do as you will, With bathing and feeding . . . . . . . The long day to fill? Is that what you're thinking? . . . . . Is that what you see? Then open your eyes, nurse . . . . . you're not looking at me. I'll tell you who I am. . . . . . . . As I sit here so still, As I do at your bidding, . . . . . as I eat at your will. I'm a small child of Ten . . . . . with a father and mother, Brothers and sisters . . . . . . . who love one another. A young boy of Sixteen . . . . . . with wings on his feet. Dreaming that soon now . . . . . a lover he'll meet. A groom soon at Twenty . . . . . my heart gives a leap. Remembering, the vows . . . . . that I promised to keep.. At Twenty-Five, now . . . . . . I have young of my own. Who need me to guide . . . . And a secure happy home. A man of Thirty . . . . . . . . . . My young now grown fast, Bound to each other . . . . . . With ties that should last. At Forty, my young sons . . . . . . . . . have grown and are gone, But my woman's beside me . . . . . . to see I don't mourn. At Fifty, once more, babies play . . . 'round my knee, Again, we know children . . . . . . . . . My loved one and me. Dark days are upon me . . . . . . . . . my wife is now dead. I look at the future . . . . . . . . . . . . . shudder with dread. For my young are all rearing . . . . . young of their own. And I think of the years . . . .. . . . . . and the love that I've known. I'm now an old man . . . . . . . . . and nature is cruel. Tis jest to make old age . . . . . . look like a fool. The body, it crumbles . . . . . . . . grace and vigor, depart. There is now a stone . . . . . . . . . where I once had a heart. But inside this old carcass . . . . . a young guy still dwells, And now and again . . . . . . . . . . my battered heart swells. I remember the joys . . . . . . . . . . I remember the pain. And I'm loving and living . . . . . . life over again. I think of the years, all too few .. . . . . . gone too fast. And accept the stark fact . . . . . . . . . . that nothing can last. So open your eyes, people . . . . . . . . open and see. Not a crabby old man . . . . . . . . . . . . . Look closer . . . see ME!! Remember this poem when you next meet an older person who you might brush aside without looking at the young soul within. We will all, one day, be there, too! The best and most beautiful things of this world can't be seen or touched. They must be felt by the heart

They asked if he had cancer anywhere besides the colon and the bladder. I told the lady that if he did, I wasn't aware of it. Frank is still in good spirits. He said he can live with a colostomy bag. Thanks for ya'lls prayers and your thoughts,, they mean a lot. Doc says she had bone from the last surgery just not enough, so he filled in where it was needed, he thinks this one will be enough. I sure hope so. She is on liquids and puree foods for 2 weeks, after that its soft foods and a spoon only, for 3 weeks or more. No sports,no gym, no contact playing at all. If she would get hit in the mouth she's back where we started from. No school for a week. Her hip is bothering her more than before, she has 11 stitches I think its bigger cut this time than before too. She gets tired of laying and sitting. Trys to walk around but it does bother her to be up too long. I want to clean her up, but she won't let me touch the area at all, I am lucky getting the meds. in her mouth every four hours. They had her from recovering with blood all over her mouth! The nurse said I could clean her if I wanted too! Hell I thought that was part of the surgery clean up!! Her hair needs washing, but she can't be in water for 3 WEEKS cause of the stitches. So its sink bathes, and guess I will take her to the one that does our hair and have her shampoo her hair. I can't have her leaning over the sink and bump her mouth. Everyone please continue to pray for her that this will be complete and she will be done with surgeries for awhile. After serving in the Army, they moved to California, where they played in clubs and eventually landed a job performing at the Disneyland theme park. Buck Owens attended one of their Disneyland shows and signed them to a management, recording and booking contract. They spent several years opening shows for Owens, who also co-hosted Hee Haw. The Hagers signed to Capitol Records in 1969 and charted five country singles. Dear Lord, Every single evening As I'm lying here in bed, This tiny little Prayer Keeps running through my head: God bless all my family Wherever they may be, Keep them warm and safe from harm For they're so close to me. And God, there is one more thing I wish that you could do; Hope you don't mind me asking, Please bless my computer too. Now I know that it's unusual To Bless a motherboard, But listen just a second While I explain it to you, Lord. You see, that little metal box Holds more than odds and ends; Inside those small compartments Rest so many of my friends. I know so much about them By the kindness that they give, And this little scrap of metal Takes me in to where they live. By faith is how I know them Much the same as you. We share in what life brings us And from that our friendships grew. Please take an extra minute From your duties up above, To bless those in my address book That's filled with so much love. Wherever else this prayer may reach To each and every friend, Bless each e-mail inbox And each person who hits 'send'.. Rich, whose father is a minister, will release the album's first single, Another You, on Jan. 12, according to his official Web site. Rich recently completed production of the third season of CMT's Gone Country which features funk musician George Clinton, TV personality and Miss USA Tara Conner, pop vocalist and actress Taylor Dayne, actor, musician and Monkees lead vocalist Micky Dolenz, entertainer and musician Sheila E, actor and musician Richard Grieco and American Idol runner-up Justin Guarini. The new season begins Jan. 24. Bob Dylan's Nashville Skyline Outtakes Sold on eBay Mon. December 29.2008 4:09 PM EST An original master recording of outtakes from Bob Dylan's Nashville Skyline sessions has apparently sold on eBay for $30,000. The tape was offered by a consortium of Ampersand Records USA, Lake Carmel Music and Navybob LLC. The auction was for the recording itself -- not the intellectual rights that would allow it to be commercially released. The one-inch, eight-track analog tape runs for 27 minutes and includes five outtakes of Dylan's hit, Lay Lady Lay, and an unreleased jam session of Going Back to Chicago. The recording was made on Feb. 14, 1969 at the Columbia Studio on Nashville's Music Row and has been stored in a New Jersey warehouse for almost 18 years. Singer, Songwriter and Producer Delaney Bramlett Dies in Los Angeles Mon. December 29.2008 12:53 PM EST Delaney Bramlett, a roots music singer, songwriter and producer best known as a founder of Delaney Bonnie Friends, died Saturday (Dec. 27) at a Los Angeles hospital of complications from gallbladder surgery. He was 69. The Mississippi-born musician found national success in the mid-'60s on the TV music series, Shindig, as a member of the Shindogs, the house band that also featured guitarist James Burton and keyboardist Glen D. Hardin. He and his then-wife Bonnie Lynn later formed Delaney Bonnie Friends, opening a concert tour for Blind Faith, a British supergroup that included Clapton. Clapton briefly joined the couple's band for a series of live shows and a 1970 album titled On Tour With Eric Clapton. Bramlett also produced Clapton's first solo album, a self-titled project released in 1970, featuring Let It Rain, a song they wrote together. He is also credited with teaching Harrison how to play slide guitar and to write gospel songs, an endeavor that led to Harrison's My Sweet Lord. Bramlett's most successful song on the country charts, Never Ending Song of Love, was a Top 10 hit for Dickey Lee in 1971. Other versions were recorded by Crystal Gayle, the Osmonds, along with two noteworthy duos -- Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn, George Jones and Tammy Wynette. Bramlett and Leon Russell co-wrote Superstar, a major hit for the Carpenters. Delaney and Bonnie Bramlett dissolved their personal and professional relationship in 1973. In recent years, he joined Jerry Lee Lewis to sing Lost Highway, a track on Lewis' 2006 album, Last Man Standing. In addition to his wife, Susan Lanier-Bramlett, he is survived by four children, including Bekka Bramlett, a singer-songwriter based in Nashville. Tim McGraw Says Saturday Night Live Preparation Is Fun ... So Far Fri. November 21.2008 5:15 PM EST Tim McGraw says he expects to be nervous as the host of the Saturday Night Live episode airing Saturday (Nov. 22) on NBC. So far now, it's fun, McGraw told CMT Insider this week during rehearsals in New York City. I'm sure my nerves will get bundled up a little bit when the day comes, but the guys are great. All the cast and the people working on the show make it really as easy for you as they can, but there's a certain 'scared-ness' that comes with doing live stuff. This is his first time hosting the comedy series. The history that's involved with Saturday Night Live is pretty special to be a part of, he said. As an artist, it's pretty special to be on here just to sing, but to be on as host and be involved in the skits -- and a lot of skits -- is a pretty cool thing. You just gotta trust everybody and kinda do your thing. McGraw's SNL appearance coincides with the release of his new movie, Four Christmases, starring Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon. Julianne Hough Not Returning to Dancing With the Stars Next Season Fri. November 21.2008 5:15 PM EST Julianne Hough will not return to Dancing With the Stars when the next season begins in May, she said Thursday (Nov. 20) in an interview with Ryan Seacrest on his syndicated radio show. I really, really want to focus on the music and, you know, kind of be taken seriously a little bit, she said. Hough, who has a record deal with Mercury Nashville, won the top prize on the show in seasons four (with Apolo Anton Ohno) and five (Helio Castroneves), but was eliminated early in season six (with Adam Carolla). She and partner Cody Linley were dismissed on Tuesday night (Nov. 18) from season seven. However, Hough said she may return to the series in the fall of 2009. Tim McGraw and Faith Hill Among Richest Famous Couples, Says Forbes Fri. November 21.2008 5:15 PM EST Tim McGraw and Faith Hill ranked fourth in a list of Hollywood's wealthiest couples between June 1, 2007 and June 1, 2008, according to Forbes magazine. They brought in $35 million together, with revenues from touring and albums, as well as Hill's royalties from her NFL Sunday Night Football theme song. Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban ranked eighth, with a combined income of $25 million. Jay-Z and Beyoncé topped the list with a combined total of $162 million. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Access the Recipes And More list archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/recipesandmore%40googlegroups.com/ Visit the group home page at: http://groups.google.com/group/RecipesAndMore -~--~~~~--~~--~--~---

Black filed the complaint on Nov. 7 in Davidson County Chancery Court in Nashville for unspecified damages. Sussman's firm -- Gudvi, Sussman Oppenheim -- is also named in the suit. Sussman and Black each have minority ownership in Equity. Black claims he received nothing in return for his money after Sussman convinced him to assign $500,000 in royalties to launch Equity as a minority owner. Black also said he wasn't aware that the contract signed by Little Big Town allowed them to leave the label after two albums, that Sussman accepted monthly payments from Equity Records without Black's knowledge and that Black signed more than $1 million worth of personal guaranties for the label. It was country music that I grew up on, so to be embraced by the country music community this year has been a great feeling. Museum director Kyle Young noted, The proceeds that Jewel and her fans are generously donating will help to fund the storage and preservation of the museum's unduplicated collection of country music artifacts and assist our staff's efforts to make the collection available to the largest possible audience through exhibits, programs, books and recordings.
