The firebrand is deluded, he is full of
'religious spirits' and both he and Elsman are verbally abusive. Their language
is crude and they go way beyond 'speaking the truth in love' - I would expect
to encounter this kind of thing out on the street. These men have shown no
interest in anything other than venting their own hostility, they make fun of
personal appearance, faults, and/or weaknesses they perceive in felow believers
which is not a Christlike trait and neither is beating people unmercifully with
the Word of God taken out of balance and context. Whereas love covers,
they try to expose.
As for women, historically the Jews had
a difficult time separating themselves from the surrounding cultures and
because of disobedience and the weakness of their flesh they became hard
hearted and cruel ie their bill of divorcement. Jesus restored to women
everything the devil had stolen encouraging Mary to sit at his feet and learn
rather than waiting on everyone by serving food and when her sister complained
He replied that Mary had chosen the good part that would not be taken away from
her (Luke 10:42). Whom the Son sets free is free indeed whether or not
the religious folk approve.
The scriptures teach us that "It's
not good to answer a fool according to his folly" and since out of the
abundance that fills the heart the mouth speaks discernment should tell us that
the kind of insanity we are seeing here will eventually shut down
communication. We can see the parallel right now in the world with the Islamic
terrorists who are beyond logic and reason. The firebrand who apparently thinks
the God of the Universe is unable to communicate in English has this same
religious spirit and his attitude toward females is the same. We need to
ask ourselves if we want people who hold the truth in unrighteousness
controlling the list any more than we want the terrorists controlling our
country. These people don't know what spirit they are of and the devil
certainly is no gentleman. jt
