You will probably get answers from some of the techys but I'd suggest you go to Control Panel/Sounds and Audio Devices. There are tabs and go to Volume. There you can adjust the volume and have an icon placed on your tool bar where you can regulate the volume when necessary. You may be on mute. That's one suggestion.
