Make sure your connection is good, too. Jiggle the plug a bit. Just make sure everything is connected well.

There are tabs and go to Volume. There you can adjust the volume and have an icon placed on your tool bar where you can regulate the volume when necessary. You may be on mute. That's one suggestion.
