Emily, Purdue has a Whistleblower policy<http://www.purdue.edu/policies/ethics/iiia4.html>, which protects individuals from reprisal when reporting misconduct and tends to serve as our overarching policy against retaliation. We also include language in several policies where there are procedures tied to the policy that include some kind of investigation of claims (ie, equal opportunity, anti-harassment, faculty grievances, employee dispute resolution, research misconduct, and the like).
If you type in the word "retaliation" in the search box at the top of our policy website, it returns all the policies that mention it. It seems retaliation is linked to specific types of accusations of wrong-doing and resulting workplace investigations, so the issue could be addressed in the related policies (e.g., grievance, discipline, anti-harassment/discrimination) or one could have a comprehensive anti-retaliation policy that covers all retaliation. I'd be grateful for feedback on which approach your institution has chosen, or other options that might be out there.
