Hi Becky,
I used both a stand alone DVD recorder and a computer to copy DV
footage to DVD and I find using a computer with simple DVD authoring
software much more comfortable than using a stand alone DVD (or CD)
recorder. Although I must admit that I don't really know what you
mean by home entertainment center. Apart from all that, a wire like
that does exist and it's called a Firewire cable.
