In New York the F word is like a comma, period, and question mark.  Even some devout Christians will salt their language when they're not in church.  You hear it so often that it doesn't even register anymore.
....but it does depend on the setting.  In business communication it's quite rare, but among tradesmen it's constant.  But even the tradesmen know to keep it quiet if they're working in a professional building.  If you're pumping gas you'll hear "Man these effing pumps are are effing slow, nobody got the effing time to wait for this."  He's not even mad, he's just talking. 


There are exceptions both ways.  I knew a home builder who had creative 
substitutions for every swear word, so he'd emulate those speech 
patterns but threw in things like "son of a biscuit".  You can also bump 
into a lawyer who talks like a sailor.  I think the root is whether they 
grew up in a blue collar household or not.



A waitress can NOT say "you want some effin fries with that?", but the 
customer CAN say "I love these effin french fries, what do you put on 
them?"  After the customer has started with that, the server may be able 
to slip in an F word, but can't overuse it.


Eff word etiquette I guess.

this guy for a long time and never witnessed this behavior before.
I mentioned it to a friend that reps products that other company 
carries.  He was shocked.  Had never seen that guy behave like that 
either.  He then mentioned it to one of the bosses at the 
distributorship and I had an instant apology. I was not asking for 
one.  I was not trying to get the guy in trouble.  But they all took 
it very seriously.
Again, this could be a local Utah thing, but when I ran my 
manufacturing business in Quincy, Ill we never had this happen there 
either.  There was one guy named Bob that worked for Harris Broadcast 
that was foul mouthed and everyone in town talked about him.  But that 
was about it.
Maybe I give off a “don’t f with me” vibe or something. I don’t 
consider myself puritanical or a prude.  But I don’t think foul 
language has a place in business or normal ordinary conversation.  It 
really puts me off in the movies.

I put all OT threads in a folder all to themselves. I look at that 
folder when I feel like I need/want some entertainment. F-bombs and 
other atrocities do not bother me. That stopped being an issue for me 
back when I was in college.

            That's the real problem. I've come to the conclusion
