Some curious comments here.

Not diabetic but my daughter is Type 1 and has been since first grade.
This cannot be cured. It is directly related to the pancreas insulin
production being attacked by the body.

I use the word ‘cured’ because Type 1 is a truly an incurable disease.

If you are dieting to control A1C, and not using insulin, it sounds like you
are Type 2.
While doctors (and the internet) will ‘argue’ Type 2 is not curable the facts
remain its almost always a direct result of bad health habits. ( I.e., diet and
exercise )
Certain populations are genetically prone to Type 2, but it all goes back to
the same problem.
Kids are also increasing becoming juvenile Type 2 due to the same bad health
habits adults take.
Keto will only be a short-term fix until you truly change your lifestyle.

If you change your lifestyle you can reverse (put in remission) any symptoms of
being Type 2 and not worry about A1C.
A1C out of control will tear your body down slowly over time creating damage
you cannot fix.
For the record, I am not practicing the preaching.

If you believe the “expert” I have been listening to it is mostly the refined
carbs. Pasta, breakfast cereals, snack cakes etc. Fruits are much less of a
problem. He says everyone is so different that for one person to actually live
in a state of ketosis they need to consume 10 grams or less carbs per day while
another would be at 100 grams.

I am not necessarily striving for ketosis. But I want my fricking A1C down to
normal levels. If I have to have my feet cut off, I sure as hell don’t want it
to be because I ate too many carbs.

I found the best way to maintain an A1C that doesnt make me nervous is avoiding
the doctor and eating whatever I want, then dying. Right now im on the ham
sandwiches and chips diet, because I have ham sandwiches and chips. I equal out
the bread carbs by flushing my system with mountain dew and vape pods. I do
supplement with compressed stress and hate, really beeps the blood vessels
stretched for maximum elasticity and blood flow to the pins and needles in the
extremeties.
I actually did look into keto, cause I eat the shit out of meat, I could live
without bread as long as I keep the butter, but the lack of sugar, even
naturals killed me, I grow fruit because I like fresh fruit, and I will die
early before I give that up

What if you're in the tropics? Aren't all drinks there hot?

Technically, it is not coffee but “hot drinks”. Later to be defined as coffee
and tea. No idea why really. It is in a section of our canon called “the word
of wisdom”. Written in 1833
Good advice IMHO.

With all the cola being consumed when I visited customers there in the 80's I
wondered about caffeine.. So why not coffee then?

No, that is the Seventh Day Adventists I think.

Mormons avoid alcohol, tobacco, tea and coffee.

And are supposed to avoid meat “except in the times of cold and famine” that

And, contrary to popular belief, caffeine is OK.

I thought Mormon were mostly vegan?

I agree, it is hard to find snacks.
Going to try some keto no bake cookies today hopefully. Shredded cocoanut and
peanut butter I think (with flavorings).
Beer is no problem as I am behaving myself these days as a Mormon boy.
Yes, would love popcorn but there are lots of flavored pork rinds now-a-days
that are very good. They give you the crunch and good flavor.
Pizza, I just eat the toppings off with a fork.

Just removing the chips / popcorn is what kills me. I can cut out the bread
and sugar. There is low carb beer, keto wraps and bread out there etc.

Just hard to give up things like pizza ... sigh

Such a pain in the butt to get started but once moving it sure cuts the damn
sugar cravings. I find the outside family members keep killing it for me,
get a few weeks then bday, or some family member comes over and has some crazy
awesome looking carb filled dinner that I can’t resist.

Another thing if you can get your DR to prescribe Ozampic, Trulicity or the
other new one, those do wonders to a1c and if worked right you can get them
without being diabetic.

Had to get back on keto hard as I had been slipping/being weak willed and my
A1C got up in the 7s again. I know how to get it back into the 5s. It is very
easy. Just will take some time. This time around I am doing almost a
carnivore version of keto. ( I don’t really like meat.)

Unexpected and nice result is that my BP is lower than when I was in my 20s.
Hope it stays that way, will really help out the next time I have to get my DOT
or airmans medical.
