Cars and trucks these days use connectors that have built-in moisture/debris shields. You can get those (both male and female) at many auto parts stores.

I build a piece of industrial equipment.  Currently the motion control PCB is in the steering column.  I am thinking of potting it and putting it underneath the chassis.  Easy to get to etc.  But what kind of connector should I use? Flying leads coming out of the potting compound into a cannon type connector?  Hate to use any connector that is non ip67, so phoenix plugs are out. Not sure I am going to do this but we are kicking it around.  I might just leave it where it is.  It has phoenix connectors now with wires and ferules going to screw down terminals etc.
