OK, thank you, now I understand what you are talking about. You use
'belief in consciousness' to designate behavioral patterns that are
usually said to be correlates of consciousness, but since you don't
want to use term which is also sometimes associated with various
magical powers, you add 'belief' part to that term.

But nonetheless I can't see why you prefer to use this highly
misleading term 'belief in consciousness'. When you talk about animals
being selected for having belief in consciousness it sounds like
complete gibberish, and as long as you don't attach definitions of
your terms, it IS gibberish, such is a nature of communication.

And technically, consciousness does exist, at least that part of this
loaded term that corresponds to real phenomena, including those you
call 'belief in consciousness'.
