I can see the ability to run apps as a plus but even my Samsung BD
player can do that though Samsung hasn't opened their app market to US
developers yet though they announced they would a couple months ago but
to my knowledge it hasn't happened and I am definitely on their email
list for things. Android apps even for a 10" tablet might look strange
even on a 32" TV let alone a 55" one. I would redesign for such
screens. And of course portrait layouts won't work unless catering to
couch potatoes that watch TV lying down. ;-)
Sometimes people might see an ad with a link or a web site mentioned on
a show and don't want to get up from the couch and fire up a computer to
check it out. So there Google TV might appeal to some people. But who
knows how any of this is going to work if Net Neutrality goes away which
would be a sad day for humanity indeed.

For someone who may be a bit dense, what is the value proposition of
Google TV?
I just got a blueray player that has Netflix and all these services
that the Revue is advertising.
Google TV doesn't have a tuner, it doesn't have DVR, DVD or blueray
that I can tell.
Is it so people can browse the web from their TV (like webTV)? Sure
that appeals to me as a geek. Is the public screaming for it, though?
If its apps, does that mean people are buying it now in hopes of
running some cool apps *next year*? It's not even ready for developers
yet. The built in apps it does list (Netflix, etc) are also available
on this blueray player I just got
Maybe it will be real cool when all hires hiquality content is
available on the internet. But nowdays a lot of it still comes
through these coax cables and these round flat plastic things.
