That's weird, Smartdrv loads high automagically for me. I think 
there's a
switch to prevent it, you should make sure that it's not there. (see 
"help
smartdrv" and/or "smartdrv/?")

I figured out how to get my smartdrv loaded high. Strangely,
I had more than one line to run smartdrv in my config.sys
and autoexec.bat, and the computer used the first one it
came to. I'll check help smartdrv and see about the switch.
I have to use lh now to get it done.
