If there is a delay here, go ahead and press <Alt+P> or <F7> now.
This usually means that your ISP is using PAP and PPP has already
started on the server.

At this point it looks like you have logged in to the unix shell.
This is cool but no good for PPP.
If you get the "login:" prompt right away and still go to the shell,
it is possible (but unlikely) that you might have to use something
like "snoopybum.ppp" and your password to start PPP on the server.
At my "real" ISP, if I bypass the PAP delay (by pressing <ENTER>),
I have the choice of shell, PPP or C/SLIP using "login: user.?".

Dospppd (epppd) won't load if PPP is not running on the server.

Dospppd runs PPP on the client (DOS) side. The server runs PPP on
the ISP side, which usually starts as soon as you dial in, but not
always.
