X-() ??

C'mon ! The config ran the first time when I installed the ATI video.
In fact it ran MANY times and lied to me about the possibility of
selecting a NO mouse setup. (Then the Xserver wouldn't run because
there wasn't any mouse.)

But the configurator would still run, and I was permitted to use
one of the 'politically' correct choices - (some mouse) and
finally I was into X and playing with various window managers.

This time there is no choice. It won't re-configure the video
because it says some XF86_SVGA file is missing.
The Xconfigurator (as they call it) DOES run in standard VGA mode
up to the point where it encounters its problem.

The file wasn't missing (no complaint) when I first configured for ATI.
Where did it go ? I didn't take it. <g>

I'm going to try again right now.
