Michael was an advocate of write caching and I believe Richard still is. As explained, I have had at least two serious cases of crosslinked files associated with smartdrv and write caching. This normally occurs when the application software you are using crashes - like Arachne used to - and would probably never be seen otherwise. Crosslinked files is the worst thing that can happen to a hard disk - much worse than deleting all files in a directory - and my messing around still frequently results in crashes here. <g> > Too bad some of those guys aren't still around.
