Normally, I agree with your solution, however the issue is SmartIT doesn't recognize Active Links so I don't think I can set OOTB field using Filters because I think some of the workflow needs to be set before the Filter phasing. I could be wrong but was hoping someone has gone through this process to get it to work in SmartIT and knew for sure. ________________________________ From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) <[email protected]> on behalf of Tauf Chowdhury <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, February 15, 2017 3:08:32 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Hide Change Classes ** Thanks Jarl! Also, in SmartIT, if you go to create a change from scratch, you're presented with picking the change class from a group of boxes. I don't think you can modify that. Agree that the message would not work well because as you pointed out it will be presented at time of submission. Based on your hurdles, do you have a suggestion on how this requirement can be met and work on SmartIT. Would deleting the value from the selection list be the best option here? I know we would have workflow that references a value that no longer exists, i.e. Run If Change Type = Latent. ________________________________ From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> on behalf of Tauf Chowdhury <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> Sent: Tuesday, February 14, 2017 11:37:40 AM To: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Subject: Re: Hide Change Classes ** Are you talking about SmartIT and not MyIT? If so, I'm under the impression that there is not much you can change when it comes to fields in SmartIT that are out of the box. Even your idea of popping up error messages would have to be a filter and it would be presented at the time of submission; not while interacting with the form like an active link. We've rolled out SmartIT and had a lot of hurdles with change management. Option 1 - Pop up a warning message if Latent is selected - Customer has said they don't like this option as they don't even want to allow the user to see Expedited, Latent, etc. Option 2 - Delete the selection values for Latent and Expedited - CONS - this will need to happen across 15-20 forms and not sure of the impact on OOTB workflow if these values are removed. The PRO is this solution should work in MyIT Option 3 - Create a new "Class" field and control the menu and then populate it back to the OOTB field. The problem is I don't think I can set this field in a Filter... I think the OOTB field needs to be set correctly as soon as the new menu is selected. I know this is a common customization and was wondering if anyone has implemented a solution to prevent users from selecting unused Chance Classes and the solution worked in MyIT. Appreciate any feedback on the options above or any real world experiences.
