If money is no object, just get a Transporter and be done with it. Otherwise, get a Duet or SB3 and try feeding it both ways (analog-out DSP-bypass, then digital out) to your processor and see which one sounds better to you.
I recommend chasing after a separate DAC only if you are not happy with these first options. Personally, I'm quite happy with the analog outs of the SB3 (stock). Haven't heard the Duet, but I imagine it must sound similar.
