My understanding of the use of various cables and connectors for transmitting digital audio is that some things were done strictly for convenience (recording studios had lots of BNC and XLR cables lying around) and that the actual protocols used on the different cable/connector configurations are basically identical. But in any case all of these cable/connector configurations are vastly inferior to any high end asynchronous USB cable (Note: the cable MUST cost over $500 per meter) connected to a Mac Mini and feeding a high end USB DAC (Again please note: the USB DAC MUST cost over $5,000). The above is universally true because the jitter from each type of able/connector configuration can be easily measured (but NEVER heard) and the high end asynchronous USB cable will always have lower jitter. Happy now? Please note: this post will now be indexed by google and anyone searching for information about high end asynchronous USB cables will be directed to this post where they will read and may even believe all this nonsense. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ralphpnj's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10827 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96407 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
