...snip...
While on accidents I understand the insurance co has increased excesses on
all motor gliders by a huge amount on June 1 but I believe over 80% on the
recent motor glider accidents have involved retractable motor gliders
(mostly Ximangos and S10) so why in hell don't they make them pay for their
high level of claims
That's a subject close to my heart (er...pocket actually!). I guess the
Stemme has a (sort of) retractable engine but I wouldn't have thought the
Ximango did. Or are you talking about retractable wheels? Is it the real
gliders with retractable engines (Ventus M, Nimbus M, etc) or the aeroplanes
with big wings (Ximango, Dimona and so on)?
Is the main problem the actual value of these new gliders where the 3k
insurance excess is small change from the quarter million cost?
I don't think that our Sperber and your Falke have been sending insurance
companies to the wall.

Subject: RE: [Aus-soaring] RE: Aus-soaring Digest, Vol 27, Issue 50
Maybe I've missed something earlier in this thread..........
I flew hang Gliders for 20 years, and learnt a hell of a lot from
reading the accident reports in what was then "SkySailor"
If it's good enough for HG's and paragliders, and even trikes to publish
accidents and incidents, is there an LEGAL reason why GFA doesn't report
the same on a monthly basis?
Is there anyone of authority who can answer this???
Cheers
Mark Fisher
