HA I switched my wife's Vodaphone SIM to a pre-paid Telstra SIM with the prefix 0429 and sure enough, it works.
What is annoying about all this experimentation is that a device such as the SPOT which is meant to locate your position in an emergency needs to have a very low failure rate indeed. There are reports around of emergency calls in this part of the world failing to be transferred to the right people for several hours. The testing I have done over the past week or so has certainly not made me feel confident about the SPOT in Australia.
