Sorry, I meant to explain the above... SPOT receives potion by listening to the GPS. It then sends a message using data portion of Satellite Phone network (similar to SMS), which is picked up by the central monitoring service in the US. This message has nothing to do with normal phone networks. Then the central server forwards that message to internet servers. These internet servers, which are not used for emergencies, then do the non emergency stuff such as OK, Help and Tracking - and of course the Public and Private URLs for viewing your tracks/messages.
