At this link you will find first version of the book layout template. http://oooauthors.org/en/authors/userguide3/res3/OOo3.0Template_book_v1.odt [...] 1) do we really need a 1.91cm (3/4 in) bottom border?
No, we don't need such a big one. I thought I had reduced that already, but apparently the change didn't get into the template. What margin would you suggest?
2) have we reached a decision on the title page layout? Why not going for some shameless self promotion sticking a big OOoAuthors logo + feather also on the title page?
I think that having the OOoAuthors logo on the title page would make it far too cluttered. The logo in the footer of the copyright page should suffice.
Do we really want to continue to distinguish between us and the main Documentation Project? IMO OOoAuthors really should be seen as a convenient place for the development of OOo documentation, not as a separate group. Once upon a time some prominent people at OOo were emphatic that we were separatists, but I think that is no longer true -- at least not within the Docs Project. Am I just unaware that people elsewhere in OOo still think that?
3) I have no strong feeling, but I like the idea of including some of the copyright headings in the ToC.
Maybe just the "Copyright" heading?
4) Note (but that's not important) that we did not need to define a OOoToCHead style as we could have used the facility of OOo to add a title to the ToC with a user defined style (OOoHeading1 in this case).
I think I originally made it the way it is (with "Contents" being a separate paragraph in the file, not part of the ToC field itself) because there was some problem with the ToC not always starting on a new page like it should. That was a long time ago and so it's quite possible that whatever was causing that problem is no longer an issue.
I have spotted a slight mistake immediately: the very first paragraph is set for English UK and I think I have seen flickering on the screen while scrolling the document an English Australia in the status bar.
I keep forgetting to check all that and fix any problems. Sorry. --Jean
