Hi all
While working with CG Ch 8, I've encountered an unusual problem as
follows:
. When using OOo Styles, typed text renders correctly.
. However when applying font effects such as 'Bold', the
underlying text appears to disappear. This occurs when Bold is used
alone and in conjunction with Underline, but not when together with
Italic. I have verified by copying to clipboard that the text is in
actuality still there, but just refuses to render on screen.
. I noticed that the following text styles (not exhaustive)
seem to suffer from this problem -
o OOo TextBody
o OOo Num 123 [Start, End, Cont.]
o OOo TableText
o OOo Definition
I'm running OOo 3.0.1 on a (nearly) virgin copy of Vista Ultimate x64
SP1. My suspicion is that it is a problem with the template, as I
have tested the same document on 2 of my systems (the other running a
well-seasoned copy of Vista Ultimate x64 SP1) to the same effect.
Unfortunately I don't have the experience to pinpoint exactly what
went wrong.
Another possibility is that this is an x64-related issue, but I
cannot confirm this as I don't have any x86 platforms with which to
test.
I can send screenshots, and the files themselves on request.
Please advise and thanks in advance.
There's a good chance that you have introduced "white" as the typeface
colour during your non-styled changes. It's worth checking and I join
with Michele in saying that it is inadvisable to mix 'manual' changes
with styled elements, especially in OOo documents on which many other
people will work. ;-)
