Kale soup is one of my most favorite out of all the wonderful things my grandmother taught me to make. I make it all the time. It's just so easy and delicious. If anyone wants the recipe, just let me know. Another favorite is the sweet bread. I make it every year at Christmas and Easter. The Sopas that is traditionally served at the Holy Ghost celebrations is also another favorite that I enjoy making.
I think food is a wonderful way to stay in touch with our history. I try hard to keep the traditions going. Not just for my Portuguese side but I have to say that's the food I enjoy the most. As the generations continue, the blood gets thinner and thinner but if the love of the food can keep the appreciation of their heritage in their hearts, then it's worth the extra time and effort to make it.
