I am suggesting a fresh install, but then rename the newly-installes folder.
A link would have the same effect, I think.

In Linux or Mac, we can use symlink to j executable so that the path for
running J executable remained the same for different versions.

Actually I have only rewritten it up to the section "Folders" because I
don't know enough about the non-Windows systems to do more.
I would appreciate anything that anyone can do to make this easier to use.
