maybe it does *now* by default, but it didn't used to. i had to specify Folder.jpg long ago to keep SS [at the time] from using the 75x75 stuff, one of which is AlbumArtSmall.jpg, (so i don't know what SBS 7.5 would do if i removed that value from sbs settings, would have to test it). but as to why it used/(uses?) ...that prior to Folder.jpg i have no idea; but at one time anyway, it did. but this isn't addressing the larger point. the larger issue is that picking an image file simply b/c it is alphabetically first as opposed to a more likely better criteria is simply not as smart as it could be, thats all i'm saying. to argue otherwise is to me, silly. (and i didn't even mention that different systems "alphabetize" in different ways, esp symbols like _ ...sorting hierarchy issues are not unknown as problematic around here, right? yet with filesize, it comes down to simply > or < in any system, its unambiguous) and filesize is my second, fallback choice, resolution is my first. Bigger filesize doesn't necessarily > mean bigger resolution, and doesn't necessarily mean it is cover art. no, it doesn't necessarily mean it, its just more likely, and that is clear. (exceptions don't invalidate the rule) if someone has two files for artwork, and one is a thumbnail while the other is fullsize, as is likely the case for many users with more than one file for artwork, than the bigger one is the one they'd want used. its certainly better than the arbitrary alphabetical method, which depends on an equally arbitrary sorting method for alphabetizing. and again, filesize is my fallback, resolution is my first choice, as long as it doesn't use more cpu cycles than alphabetical does. -- MrSinatra www.lion-radio.org using: sb2 & sbc (my home) / sbr (parent's home) - sbs 7.5b - win xp pro sp3 ie8 - p4(ht) 3.2ghz / 2gig ram - 1tb wd usb2 raid1 - d-link dir-655 - 35k mp3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MrSinatra's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2336 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=71768 _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
