I'm a little rusty on my startup files, but I'm not sure that xdm calls
xinitrc (or $HOME/.xinitrc) I think that's part of the problem. I normally
make a seperate script containing everything I want executed with blackbox
and call it from my X startup (graphic or otherwise).
