Hi Tom For myself surpassing my high score is certainly part of it. However there also needs to be another reason to play. Something along the lines of randomness, difficulty, or just a fun time playing! As for the last point there let me elaborate. Back in the days I had an Atari 2600, and also an Odyssey 2. *lol* I remember the hours I'd pass playing Asteroids, Bezerk, Yar's Revenge [Atari titles] and Showdown, Armoured Encounter, K.C. Munchkin [Odyssey]. At the time each time you played the game it was pretty much the same, but the attempt to beat one's own record, and the fact the game was still enjoyable to play gave it the replay value to me. I hope this gets the point across. Also thinking about it as a side note. The Munchkin [Pac-man sort of] actually had an editor to create your own layouts for the levels. With racing I think there would be enough variables to definitely have replay time and again. I'd also vote nascar too.
