my email and let me know what you have. Thanks, ben

Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Got a $50 gift card from Home Depot for Christmas and got a cheap ($30) Campbell
Hausfeld 1/2 inch, 260 ft/lbs impact wrench. I hooked it up to the low pressure port
on my SCUBA tank and tried removing the lugs on my wheels, which were torqued at 80
ft/lbs. No luck.

IIRC, the low pressure port is supposed to be around 200 psi. Is this correct? Or is
the cheap impact wrench the problem? Any ideas how to get this to work?

Thanks in advance.

The scuba tank might not be able to supply the necessary volume.

I have a cheapo ($30) 260 ft*lb wrench - it often failed to remove properly
torqued lug nuts. I bought a cheapo ($60?) 400 ft*lb wrench - it works much
better.

You'll need a minumum of ~ 80 psi delivery pressure from your scuba tank . .
. I doubt your low pressure port delivers that much . . .Isn't that port the
supply to the breathing regulator?

also, squirt the inlet of the impact with a few drops of oil to lubricate
and help seal the vanes inside.

My '94 525i touring has courtesy lights over the back seat. Both my
daughters are major bookworms and would love to have reading lights back
there.

Is that a simple swap, or is there wiring that needs to be done? Will sedan
reading lights fit the touring (and will the reading lights be properly
aimed?).

Lastly, if the answer to the above question is "yes" - does anyone have rear
reading lights from an E34 for sale?

Thanks.

Anyone have experience with the E23 "climate control unit" which is an
electro-mechanical unit which appears to move some of the blend doors in
the HVAC system. It's under the dash behind the center console. But does
it also control the solenoids which open for example the heater valve?
Has anyone ever take one apart? There are two rows of card edge connections
the purpose of which do not show up on Chilton's.
Before I go and buy one (it's $$$) I want to be sure it is the source of
the problem. I know it's not the heater control valve.

Most common problem on the E23 HVAC system is a vacuum leak.

I think the "electro-mechanical" unit you're referring to is the vacuum
relay bank behind the ashtray?
It's feed is the green hose, which comes in through the firewall from the
vacuum canister at the base of the windshield on the right side.

Make sure your vacuum pump is working, and that you have no vacuum leaks,
before replacing any components. Remember that the solenoids that actuate
the various flap doors are dual stage, so may leak in one position, but not
the other.
