Steve,

There is a dimmer sensor on the dash that will adjust the brightness of the
radio display etc. Cover it with your hand and the display darkens. It is on
my E46 (and my E30 as well.) I'm guessing you might have some passing clouds
or other passing shadows (trees, light posts) that make it noticible. I'd
test the sensor first to see if it seems to be properly functioning.

Gilbert

For those of you in the San Francisco Bay Area, The Golden Gate Chapter
is starting the Autocross season off with an event at the Marina Airport
on March 20th. Our events are very friendly to those that have never
autocrossed before, and help from the veterans is available to those
that wish to get some instruction. Autocross is a great way to learn
about car control and the limits of your car. It also teaches you what
your limits are, and where you can improve your driving skills. It is a
very safe learning environment, and there is no chance you will damage
your car or your body. Come on out and join us, you'll have a great
time. Watch our web site for additional details and registration info.

Would that fit a 96 318ti? I have a AM/FM/Cassette with no Weather Band.

Talking of radios, does anyone need a stock FM/AM/WB/Cassette head unit?

I took this out of my 96 M3 about a year ago when I replaced it with a CD43
unit from a Z3, and it's been sitting sealed in a bag ever since. Perfect
condition AFAIK. Comes with original Code Card and manual.

Help me clear off my workbench, no reasonable offer refused.

What is the best method to test for vacuum leaks on an engine? The 'ol
flammable spray still works, but it isn't very safe ;) Any hints for
finding those tiny little leaks?

Thanks!

A question for you ///M Roadster owners out there. A friend of mine
noticed that the chrome trim around the lighter was missing when it
returned from a dealer service. The service dept. was willing to
replace it thinking it got sucked up in the vacuum cleaner. The
individual ring was not readily apparent on the parts system, so they
ordered the entire cigar lighter assembly. It arrived sans chrome trim
ring. Can anyone help with perhaps a part number even?

Thanks
Steve

dunno. if no on here answers, ask on the Roadfly Z3 message board.
they're all obsessed with chrome & such so can surely provide the
part numbers & procedure for getting the right parts.

LOL! My favorite aftermarket chrome Z3 parts are the windshield washer
nozzles.

Clearing out more parts reserves (good used stuff) such as M535i / 635CSI
oil cooler, 635CSi rear sway bar, E28 max cooling alu rad, etc. It's time
to make some room, start with this ebay.com auction (2462778288) and see my
other stuff. If you have an E3, E9, E12, E23, E24, E28 or E30 you may just
find something to your liking.

I hope I've made enough room .....

We're considering purchasing a 2001 or newer E39 wagon. Are there any
issues/problems particular to the E39 that I should watch out for?
