Anyone have experience with let's say a 245/40 x 17 on a stock suspension
E36 ('96) 328?
If that works does it need fender rolling? Assume same size wheels all the
way round.

Thanks, Kevin

Anyone dislike the Audi-like trapazoid front end of the new 3? The motor
and suspension appear to be worldclass but that nose looks discontinuos and
out of place.

Since I bought it, I have to defend it -- it's not that bad, and it's better
in person :-) It'll grow on you... Just like the E46 was ugly when it was
first introduced, and everyone complained that it's bloated compared to the
E36, over the years, BMW made little adjustments to make it look amazing.

http://ziv.tzo.com/e90

Besides, it drives and handles way better then an E46 :-) I know -- I used
to have a 330Ci for 4 years.

Ciao ---

Ziv.

I sent mine to Alpine in CA for repair. It was $120
with return shipping, IIRC. I don't have the address
handy, but it is the same place the dealerships send
these things out to so they may be able to tell you.

Stock BMW 6-CD Changer stopped playing and displayed
Disk Error when I had to make a panic stop the other
day. Strange- never heard of or experienced this
before. Tried another cartridge- Load/read seem
normal, but Disk Erroragain when trying to play. Does
anyone have any suggestions on what to do (short of
replacing it)?

I believe the original plan was for this to include some footage from
3 Across America. Whether or not that actually happened is yet to be
determined.

My DirecTV Tivo showed a preview of it and allowed me to set it to
record. If its any good I'll try to download it to my PowerBook and
try to post it.

I have a water pump # 11 51 2 241 641. (bought and odd collection of
parts from an independent shop closing ) I can't find this in my ETK.
The style of the pump looks fairly recent but also looks like the ones
on the 524td model diagram. Anyone help with this part number? TIA

Developed a rattle in the rear the last few days, crawled under and found a
broken right side rear sway bar bracket. I know there are weak points to the
E36, is this one? I've done a few schools, along with a number of
autocrosses. Suspension mods are H&R sport springs, Bilstein shocks, Turner
sway bars. Any reason other than wear and tear?

Secondly, are there any upgraded parts to install? Or just replace every 100K
miles?

Thanks,

Mark

This is for our '91 325iA, running 14x6 bottlecaps.

Basic needs: 2 tires, 195/65-14, with even tread wear and at least
5/32" tread depth remaining.

Not so basic needs: 4 tires, 205/60-14 - hey, may as well upgrade a
bit, eh?

Might even be willing to consider: 4 wheels (4 on 100 bolt circle
with proper offset) and tires, 14" or 15", if the deal is right.
Whatchya got?

We bought this car almost 2 years ago with new Bridgestone Eager
tires, 195/65-14. Other than holding the car off the ground, they
don't do much worth talking about here. I couldn't wait to wear them
out. OTOH, I hate to throw away good tires. Now I have 2 of both.

Two car control clinics, three autocrosses and 20K miles later, we
picked up a nail in what was the right front. The two former fronts
are now so thin on tread on the inside edges that no tire dealer in
his right mind would patch the hole. So at minimum I need 2 tires.
But I'd be interested in seeing what kind of deals might be out there.
