There should be, yes. On the E36 it's typically "EVAP large leak
detected", as read by the Peake tool. Repeated/continual setting of this
code would indicate that the gas cap isn't sealing as well as it should,
and you might consider replacing it (BTDT).

point in E46 production, I believe a separate idiot light was added 
just for this.  As for the code itself, I've discovered that generic 
OBDII readers are often insufficient (and sometimes just plain 
misleading) when reading codes off these newer cars.  So 
unfortunately, sometimes that means a trip to a dealer or an 
independent that has newfangled, more BMW-specific tools.
