There is no need for prophylactic replacement.  Replace it when it
stops charging.  The light on the dash is your cue; then you'll have a
few minutes/miles before you're DIW.

The lead resistance in the meter accounts for the difference between the
spec and measured. A four wire measurement will give an accurate result on
a low value resistor while a two wire won't.
