Yeah, but we already know from your previous tales that a/ your dealer
is a blatant rip off, and b/ you're an blatant idiot for using them (on
a regular basis, I might add) instead of a reputable shop.

Once you reach $30K in repairs on your $12K M3, let us know and we'll
all have a drink for you.

E36 M3 rear wheel bearings, $87.50 each, BMW list price. BMW
recommended labour time 39 FRU, which calculates to 4.875 hours for both
wheel bearings.

At $1180 for the job, that works out at $206.15 per hour.

I believe you're in the Chicago area. For that price, even with gas
prices the way they are,

I need some help.
Sequence of events: the OBC alarm horn sounded off "on its own."
Disconnected the battery for silence. Next day, reconnected the battery.
The alarm was mostly silent but with intermittent hints it might go off
again. I have disconnected the alarm horn.

The OBC display reads: - - - - UHR. The light on the M MPH button flashes
continuously. I can even see it flashing dimly with the ignition off.
I have to hold any other button to see its display (including CODE),
several of which display PPPP along with unit indicators. When I release
the button - - - - UHR returns to the display.

Trying to fix it, I have in order: Held CODE while depressing the change
over button, up to 30 seconds or longer.
Disconnected the battery for up to 12 hours.
Removed the fuse (21) for up to 12 hours.
Disconnected the OBC from its harness and removed the Code Plug, for 5 to
10 minutes.

The situation continues as above. What, if anything, have I missed that
might restore the OBC to useful life? What are my options? If it comes to
replacing it, what problems do I face? Does the code plug transfer to the
new/used OBC?

Thanks - Gary
