Therese, you are following the instructions exactly right, unfortunately. I know that there are a list of folks wading to send their units in. The problem with not having it checked is that you can suddenly lose all battery power at eight percent, and may be working in a document. Basically, I keep mine plugged in, because I work from home; I know this is probably not an option for you. I wish I could say something more encouraging. Good luck, please let us know how it goes.

Subject: [Braillenote] Recalibrating the Battery

Hello Everyone:

I hope you can assist me.

I have a Voice-Note M-Power Version 7 with a chording keyboard. I
don't know if this makes a difference,
but it was purchased in February 2006.

Problem:
when i check the power status I receive this message

"AC adaptor on or off (I have tried it both ways) the battery
gage needs recallorbrating and is not accurate
enough to give a percentage reading."

I have read the instructions to recalibrate. I have followed them
to the letter. I keep getting the same
message.

Instructions I Followed:

1. Function-O brings me to option menu

2. Read-I Support information mode

3. R - battery recallobration, please connect the AC adaptor it
must be on for this test.

I did all this and was greeted with this message

"Initial charge, I am charging up my battery", later followed by
this message "I am discharging my battery ...
this repetition is driving me crazy."

This process took about 20 hours. I still get the same message.

I called tech support. they have told me to let the unit run
totally flat and retry. Not helpful I am sorry to say.

I really hope I don't have to send the unit in for a repair.

What do you suggest?

Being that I didn't like the answer from tech support. I did some
more looking/reading of instructions. I came
across these in support mode.

1. battery recalibrated with deep discharge.

2. discharging

3. battery recalibrates flash disk log

Not really knowing what these mean, again what would you all
suggest.

thanks in advance for any assistance.

Not happy in California

Therese
