A little more info. I pulled the cover and checked all the connections.
On the steam boiler there are two red connectors. One has one wire and
the other has two. I wiggled the single wire connector and pushed it down
a hair since it looked a little higher on the connection. I plugged the
machine back in and turned it on. Immediately the red light came on. I
turned it off, unplugged and pulled the single wire connector to verify
that it would not turn on the red light. It did not of course. I've got
it all connected and it's heating up now. We'll try to get another drink
if it heats up correctly.

I do remember smelling an electrical burn smell when I was descaling. It
was such a faint smell I wasn't certain it was the machine and could have
been the new dishwasher or something else. Coincidence? I think not. I
don't see any obvious burn marks anywhere on the wires or connectors. I'm
wondering if I smoked the heating element or a temp sensor inside the steam
boiler. I'd like to troubleshoot further but it'll be difficult if
reseating the connector gets it working. Where there's smoke there's fire!
