I'd never pulled the shower screen before. However, the recent thread asking about that very thing caused me to pull it and descale. Amazingly, the shower screen looked new. I went ahead and tossed in the spare but it didn't need it. I'm thinking flushing with water every morning when I'm done pulling shots must be keeping that thing new.
Thanks for the info on the connector. I guess I'll chalk it up to coincidence unless you know of instances where descaling with citric acid can wreck something inside the boiler.
