That is correct.

Unfortunately, neither did you make a statement of sympathy before
emphasizing how much you hoped that the Netherlands would not support
NATO's retaliation efforts, and providing a List of things that America has
done wrong in the past.

You'll have to forgive us, if under such circumstances, many Americans
assumed the worst about you - based on the above described conduct.
